“Trump and The Disgraceful World Order: Reform, Disruption or Prophetic Sign?”
By Jared W Campbell – Iraq War Veteran and host of Watchdog News
For more than seventy years, the post-World War II global framework has been the backbone of international relations—a massive network of treaties, alliances, and institutions designed to prevent another large-scale war. However, this framework is now showing signs of instability. The 2026 Munich Security Report states that we have entered a political catastrophe, and one of the major factors in this upheaval is US policies under President Donald J. Trump, which the report concludes are “tearing down the world order.”
Donald Trump is viewed differently by people on opposing sides of the political spectrum. Some people who support Donald Trump view him as an essential disruptor, someone who is willing to stand up to the corrupt and outdated world order. Other people who don’t support Donald Trump see him as a catalyst for chaos, someone who is destroying alliances, weakening institutions, and replacing cooperative approaches to world politics with raw, transactional approaches to power. This political turmoil resonates with people of faith. We do not view Donald Trump as a classic evil character portrayed in the last days; rather, we see, through both Scripture and history, that world systems continually rise, fall, and reconfigure themselves before the fulfillment of final prophecies.
This Watchdog Report is not intended to sound alarm bells. This is intended as an offer of insight into current events, to provide historical context for where we are today, and to help you understand the fundamental changes occurring globally. The Munich Security Conference brings together global leaders in defence, intelligence, and diplomacy; they have produced the Munich Security Report, an annual document that highlights global security and has become an important touchstone for development discussions.
The 2026 report provides insight into how global trade, investment, and climate change are reshaping the international community. Orderhan 80 years after its establishment, the international order established by the United States in 1945 is experiencing a profound transformation,” it says.
Key findings from the states’ report include the following:
President Trump is a key player in reshaping current rules, principles, and institutions.
US foreign policy is increasingly transactional rather than principle-based.
Longstanding Alliances are facing new pressures and challenges; NATO and the EU have new young leaders who may help to reinvigorate these organisations.
Tariffs, military agreements, and bilateral agreements will continue to develop as the US seeks new forms ofdiplomacyy.
Overall, the US is no longer acting as the principal architect of the current global order. It is changing and evolving, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the continued development of international relations.
International polling highlights the challenges and opportunities for all countries through the lens of the Manchester Security Report.
In Germany, France, Italy, Britain, Canada, Japan, Brazil, and South Africa, the average stated desire for international reciprocity was approximately 70%. Regarding the impact of Trump’s policies on global stability, in most of these countries, more than half of the respondents expressed concern. Many people hope that future generations will be able to cope with the current global political situation. Still, their primary request of future leaders is to engage in dialogue and work together.
While many people in European countries are calling on the US government to reaffirm its commitment to being a reliable ally, they also recognize that diverse cultures, interests, and needs exist throughout the rest of the world.
ALL POWERFUL AND NO REASON TO LISTEN TO WATCHDOGS BECAUSE:
WE DO NOT PRINT ONE-SIDED ARTICLES
Here are some views of how people are viewing this moment in time (i.e., an article in the UK could be one of many ways to give you an idea of how newspapers report now or will report in the future):
THE EUROPEAN SIDE:
Trump is destroying the system that has provided uswith peace for many decades. Many leaders and analysts from Europe believe that:
Trump’s America First policy is weaker than NATO’s. His trade wars are costing countries that have worked hard for years to become friends with the US. US threats to Denmark over Greenland, along with his strong rhetoric, have led his allies to have less trust in him and other leaders. Those that benefit are Russia and China, owing to the division of the West.
Thus, they do not believe that Mr. Trump is fixing the world system; rather, they believe that Mr. Trump is destroying it.
Many of these people are fearful that international law will not be as important as wealth and power, and, as a result, that countries will develop fewer and fewer ways to work together globally; they view it not as a reform but as a regression.
THE American counter-argument:
People who support Mr. Trump and members of his administration have an extremely different view of the above than the Europeans, and here is why:
The post-World War 2 global system allowed US allies to over-rely on the US military and economic strength, even when those countries were not fulfilling their NATO defence spending obligations and, in general, benefited from free trade agreements with the United States that hurt American workers. Organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization often worked against the United States’ interests. According to some, this does not mean that Trump is destroying the system but is rebalancing it.
The supporters of this view argue that:
Shared burdens are important for real alliances.
Leverage is necessary for fair trade, and respect is gained from strength,d not by appeasing others. In their view, the international system needed a shock to reorganize itself, and Trump is the one providing it.
🎓 PERSPECTIVE THREE: REALISM IN ACADEMICS
The World Was Already Changing
Security and historical studies scholars note that the global order was declining long before Trump took office and that:
rising powers – i.e., China; a rising Russia; and declining faith in nation-state globalization; and
The rise of nationalism – Many analysts believe that all of these trends were already changing the environment in which nations operate, no matter who was in the White House.
From this perspective, Trump is not the cause but merely a symptom of a multipolar reality in which the United States will not automatically enjoy the same level of protection/rights as in the past.
🔴 PERSPECTIVE FOUR: PROGRESSIVE CRITICS
America is Losing Credibility and Influence
Many progressive analysts feel that;
Trump’s style of confrontation will only serve to isolate America.
By withdrawing from major international agreements, the United States diminishes its leadership.
The US’s allies can no longer trust anything the United States says. A weakened rules-based world order creates:
More regional wars,
Fewer Human Rights,
A world where “Might Makes Right”.
Their perspective is that not only will Trump change the system, but he will also eliminate the United States from it altogether.
A FAITH-BASED PERSPECTIVE – NO CRAZY PARENTING
Now let’s address the elephant in the room. Many Christians observe global upheaval and immediately draw prophetic conclusions from it.
Let me be clear.
Donald Trump is not the Anti-Christ, and sensationalism of this sort does no one any good. What is reasonable, as people of faith, is that we also know:
The Scripture repeatedly describes cycles of rise and fall in the world’s system.
When an empire gets filled with pride, greed, and self-interest, it will fall from justice.
Human institutions are temporary; most are not designed to last.
Many communities will experience periods of instability that lead to change. What we are seeing, as people of faith, is a consistent picture of what happens in every nation that pursues power without humility. Whether or not Trump has been accelerating it, he is not the creator of human brokenness.
WATCHDOG REALITY CHECK
Here are the hard facts, no spin:
The world is shifting from the current global order to a different one in the near future.
There is a major difference in US foreign policy between the Trump administration and previous administrations.
Allied nations (e.g., Canada, all European nations) are becoming uneasy with our foreign policy direction.
The United States is viewed as transactional in its alliances.
The world’s existing institutions (i.e., the United Nations) created in 1945 are much weaker today than before.
Also:
Many of these institutions were already on the verge of collapse before Donald Trump became president.
Many institutions created by globalization are producing winners and losers.
Many nations are now realizing that they were not treated equitably by the global systems of fairness established in 1945.
No matter who was elected president, change was coming.
The change all nations are experiencing today is not solely about who is good or bad in history, but rather about a global community in transition.
🧭 WATCHDOG CONCLUSION
The Munich Security Report indicates that we are at a turning point now in the new international order. Those who support Trump’s approach view it as badly needed reform; however, it is viewed as severely damaging. No one can deny that, regardless of how one feels about Trump’s approach, we are at a turning point in which we are moving away from the existing international order. Everyone needs to have the conversation about how the new world will exist and who will do well in it.
